BBC Radio Five Live is launching a weekly live business programme on Sunday evenings, starting on the station’s 10th anniversary on 28 March.
The hour-long Weekend Business will air at 7pm and will be presented by BBC News business editor Jeff Randall and economics correspondent Jenny Scott. The programme will be edited by Julian Bailey, editor, radio, at the BBC’s economic and business centre.
The programme will include guest interviewees, reportage and audience interaction via e-mail and text messages from listeners.
Five Live controller Bob Shennan told Press Gazette that Weekend Business was part of the station’s revamp of business news and would have “all the normal junctions of a Radio Five Live news hour”.
“We intend to make it very newsworthy and news-making. We want to attract significant guests and interviewees and want it to become a ‘must listen’ at the weekend in advance of the busy week ahead,” he said.
