Wee Country News editor steps down

Joan McCann, whose management-led buyout of the Wee County News from Johnston Press led to the formation of Forth Independent Newspapers, has stepped down as editor of the News and sister title the Allanwater News.

The Wee County News was launched in 1995 and McCann became editor in 2001.

Before joining the title, she was a journalist at the Oban Times, and editor of Holiday West Highland before running the freelance news agency, Central Media Services.

Her replacement as editor of the two papers is Ronnie Paterson, who has also been at the Wee County News since its launch.
