Website spots trend to move into magazines

By Press Gazette

A trend-spotting website is the latest online brand to move into print publishing.

Coolhunter, which reports on global cutting edge trends, is to publish a monthly magazine in April.

The 50-60 page title will be free and distributed as a ‘tip-on’to fashion, design and lifestyle magazines worldwide. Its publishers plan to distribute the magazine in selected hotels and retailers.

The website currently has 385,000 unique visitors per month. The magazine is part of expansion plans into TV and book publishing by its creator, Bill Tikos. Website thecoolhunter.net evolved from his Australian syndicated column on cultural trends.

Last week, gay website PinkNews announced its plans to launch a spin-off magazine edition as a free standalone by the end of 2007, in a bid to increase advertising revenue.
