The publisher of Computing and IT Week has bought the technology news website The Inquirer.
The site will be part of VNUnet, the online of the wing of VNU Business publications.
VNU would not confirm how much it paid for the site, which is aimed at buyers, consumers and industry players in the PC industry.
The Inquirer has two million unique users every month and has been running for five years. The site’s sole staff member is editor Mike Magee but freelancers also contribute news, features, comment and review sections.
“This deal will allow us to expand our coverage significantly and give us the ability to share our common resources and top reporting skills,” said Magee.
VNUnet associate publisher Paul Briggs said it was too early to talk about plans to change the site or invest any more money into it. He said: “It’s pretty much business as usual. We’ve been looking at our audience and our online portfolio and the Inquirer is another step in our ongoing strategy to create a cross-media organisation so it really bolsters what we’re doing. We’ve identified that the Inquirer goes to an audience that is very complimentary to what we already offer.”
