Views sought on newspaper transfer

Trade Secretary Patricia Hewitt is seeking the views of third parties on the proposed transfer of 27 newspapers in Greater London from Independent News & Media to Newsquest.

The titles include papers in Barking, Bexleyheath, Kensington, Hackney, Islington, Gravesend, Ilford, Hoxton, Paddington, Romford, Stoke Newington, Dartford, Bromley, Hammersmith, Stratford, Newham, Wembley, Westminster, Kilburn and Camden.

Anyone wanting to comment on the proposed transfer should write by 8 May to: Joanna Edwards, Consumer & Competition Policy, Department of Trade and Industry, 1 Victoria Street, London SW1H 0ET.
