IPC Media has appointed Vicky Mayer as the new editor of Woman’s Own.
Mayer, who is currently associate editor of Reveal, will take up the vacant post on the weekly magazine next month.
She said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Woman’s Own. It’s a fantastic magazine with an amazing heritage, a loyal audience and incredible potential. I can’t wait to join the editorial team and start work on the next stage of its evolution.”
Mayer previously worked as deputy editor of Now magazine before going on to be the launch editor of Real People in 2005, leaving just six months after launch.
IPC Media had been searching for a new editor for Woman’s Own after Karen Livermore left the magazine in January to become editor of Woman, also an IPC title.
Niall Clarkson, publishing director of IPC Connect, said: “Vicky is hugely experienced in the highly contested women’s weeklies market and passionate about creating a compelling, exciting and relevant Woman’s Own for today’s 40-to-50-year-old woman.
“I am delighted that she will be joining the brand to lead the editorial team forward.”
According to the most recent circulation figures, Woman’s Own had an average weekly sale of 298,472 over the second half of last year – down 8.3 per cent on the same period the previous year.
