U.S. Secretary of State joins calls to save Afghan journalist

Condoleezza Rice has pledged to raise the case of an Afghan student journalist, who has been sentenced to death for blasphemy, with the Afghan President, Hamid Karzai.

More than 71,000 people have signed up to the Independent’s petition to save Sayed Pervez Kambaksh, who breached blasphemy laws by distributing an article from the internet that commented on Koranic verses about women’s rights.
