Trinity Mirror launches four titles for north Liverpool

By William Turvill

Trinity Mirror is to launch four new newspapers in north Liverpool tomorrow.

The free series will feature editions for Anfield and Walton, Maghull and Aintree, Kirkby and Crosby and Bootle.

A statement said the titles will aim to "showcase community content in a magazine-type environment".

No new journalists will be taken on for the launches, with the majority of content coming from users. It will be managed by Trinity's communities team of five based in Liverpool.

Each edition will be around 44 pages long and the website for the titles will be www.liverpoolcommunities.co.uk.

Trinity’s North West editor-in-chief Alastair Machray said: ''I am delighted we are launching newspapers in what has been a challenging era.

''These are proud, distinct communities which deserve their own newspapers to reflect their own lives.

''The new designs are exciting and refreshing and, hopefully, captivating for both readers and advertisers.''

The new titles will be in competition with the Champion series of free newspapers which operate across the same geographical patch.

Last month the Trinity Mirror-owned Liverpool Echo launched a new edition for the Wirral area, taking on two new reporters.

Press Gazette has asked Trinity Mirror for further information about staffing and circulation of the new titles.
