Newspaper giant Trinity Mirror, glossy magazine publisher Emap and Sky News owner BSkyB have all been voted among the most admired companies in Britain by businessmen and investors.
Judged by Management Today magazine on criteria that included quality of management, quality of goods and services and capacity to innovate, BSkyB came top of the media companies in the list, ranked overall at fifth place, while Emap was top magazine publisher in 69th place, followed by Reed Elsevier at number 81.
The Daily Mail & General Trust came in at 91, followed by Reuters at 122 and then Trinity Mirror, which entered the annual poll for the first time at 179 despite a year of cost-cutting and redundancies.
Overall top of the 220-company list was supermarket behemoth Tesco, which appeared in the top four in six out of the nine criteria.
