Toby Chapman, the Liverpool-based executive editor who helped oversee the Daily Post’s switch to a weekly title, has been appointed to the new role of editorial development manager for Trinity Mirror Regionals.
Trinity said that during his stint in Liverpool Chapman has been been responsible for managing several major change projects, as well as taking the lead role for digital development.
In December the company announced the Daily Post was to become a weekly title this month with the loss of six editorial jobs.
Chapman has previously held senior roles in news, production and sports journalism and is the former editorial training and development manager for Trinity Mirror’s North West region.
He starts his new role at the end of January and will report directly to Trinity Mirror Regionals editorial director Neil Benson.
‘We have a big development agenda for 2012, as we continue to transition the business from print to multimedia,’said Benson.
‘Toby has an excellent track record, both as a journalist and a manager, and I’m delighted that he will be working with me and our editors.”
Last month Trinity announced a new senior management structure across its regional newspaper division which will see the creation of up to new 20 new digital roles.
It also saw the appointment of three senior managing directors to oversee the entire print and digital publishing business, a managing director of digital marketing services and a digital publishing director.
