Travel Weekly Group editor to step down

By Nneka Opara

Karen Dempsey, group editor of Travel Weekly, is to leave the former Reed Business Information title next month.

Dempsey joined TW Group shortly before RBI sold its B2B travel publishing division, which includes flagship magazine Travel Weekly, to entrepreneur Clive Jacobs for an undisclosed sum in August.

She will leave her post in November following relocation of the business to its new headquarters in Victoria.

TW Group is expected to make an announcement about her successor in the near future.

Jacobs, chairman of the newly formed group, said: “Karen had only recently rejoined RBI when it was announced that we were buying the business.

“We persuaded her to stay until we moved into our new premises in Victoria, in late November.

‘I am grateful for her hard work during this time in helping us manage the transition of her team and the market-leading Travel Weekly into independent ownership. I wish her all the very best for the next step in her career.”
