Transfer upsets Haymarket staff

By Press Gazette

By Ruth Addicott

At least eight journalists at Haymarket face possible job losses after a decision to transfer their jobs from South Wales to London in September.

The move affects editorial and production staff on SC Magazine (formerly Secure Computing) which is based in Llandarcy, near Swansea. Chris Thomas, global publisher of SC, said the shake-up resulted from the extra space needed to expand the testing side of the business.

Although staff have been offered the chance to move, most are expected to take redundancy.

Haymarket acquired the title 18 months ago. Some journalists are said to be angry about the move because they were reassured last year that their jobs would be safe.

SC is a leading title in the computer and information security field and has a worldwide circulation of 100,000.
