A slow news day in Hertford prompted this headline – spotted by Popbitch.
“Exhaustion blamed for Hertford fish death.”
The story goes on to explain:
“EXHAUSTION is the most likely cause of death of a large fish in the River Lee, in Hertford, experts have claimed.
“The chub was spotted floating on the surface of the river, at the end of Mill Road on Thursday.
“An onlooker said: ‘I was walking across the bridge and I saw this massive fish, I think it’s a chub. It looked like it had died recently because it was not showing any signs of damage or decay. It’s a shame.'”
