Tindle Newspapers has acquired two monthly magazines in Surrey and Hampshire, it announced yesterday.
Life in Petersfield and Life in Haslemere, which have been going for ten years, were bought from local publisher Life Magazines. It is not yet known how much they were acquired for or how many staff will be transferring to Tindle.
The company said the new titles will complement its existing portfolio and sit alongside titles such as weekly titles the Petersfield Herald and the Haslemere Herald.
Group chairman Sir Ray Tindle said: ‘We are delighted to add these successful quality magazines to our family.’
Area managing director Karen Sheppard, who will be responsible for running the magazines, said: ‘We are thrilled to welcome the new titles aboard and look forward to forging relations with new business people and the local communities Life Magazines serve.
‘This new project complements our existing publications and enhances our plans for the future too.”
The company said that it has now launched or bought 21 new titles since the start of the recession.
Last month it announced the acquisition of monthly free newspaper the Chew Valley Gazette from Northcliffe subsidiary Bristol News & Media.
