Three journalists missing in Iraq

Three Western journalists were missing in Iraq late this week, with at least one of them thought to be kidnapped.

George Malbrunot from Le Figaro, Christian Chesnot from Radio France Internationale, and Italian freelance journalist Enzo Baldoni all disappeared on Thursday.

The Italian was shown apparently in the hands of Iraqi militants in a video broadcast by Al Jazeera on Tuesday. They said they could not guarantee his safety unless Italy announced its withdrawal from Iraq within 24 hours.

French-US documentary journalist Micah Garen was released on Sunday along with his translator after nine days as a hostage, apparently after the intervention of Shia cleric Moqtada Sad
