Journalism charity the Thomson Foundation has appointed media adviser Lord Chandos as its new chairman.
Chandos replaces former journalist and Cabinet member Lord Fowler, who has stepped down after five years in the role.
Fowler will remain as a patron of the charity alongside Lord Howe.
Chandos said: “I am excited about the prospect of helping to steer the Foundation into a new age where more people, than ever before, want to find a strong voice through media.”
The Thomson Foundation is a charity which provides training and consultancy to media organisations and NGOs in developing countries.
Set up 50 years ago by media entrepreneur Lord Roy Thomson, it claims to have trained tens of thousands of journalists and media workers across more than 100 countries.
