Thompson ready for new challenge in Middle East

By Press Gazette

Richard Thompson, former features editor of Construction News, has left to become managing editor of the Middle East Economic Digest.

Thompson said it was an exciting time for MEED with war looking increasingly likely and the news that Emap, the publisher of the fortnightly for business people, is to provide funding for a redesign.

“Is there a better time to be covering events in the Middle East?” he said. “We’ll look to build on the excitement out there, report on the war and cover all aspects that affect business. We already have people out in Iraq.”

Thompson leaves Construction News after three years and is looking forward to his new post.

“I had a very good three years on Construction News – we won many awards – but I felt like a new challenge,” he said.

“I’ll also be heavily involved in the redesign of the magazine and this is something else I’m really looking forward to. It’s such a good magazine to be on at the moment.”
