The Guardian has apologised to News of the World reporter Mazher Mahmood after wrongly reporting that his team supplied cocaine.
A Guardian article published on 3 June, following the collapse of the Victoria Beckham kidnap trial, made reference to previous NoW stings.
It stated that Mahmood and his team had supplied cocaine to the Earl of Hardwicke and disc jockey Johnnie Walker.
After an approach by NoW lawyers an apology was published this week in The Guardian’s corrections and clarifications column which admitted the error.
