Overseas readers of the Daily and Sunday Telegraphs can receive digital editions of the papers on a PC or laptop following the launch of Telegraph Screenprint.
The digital edition has the same layout as the print edition and is targeted at the overseas market. It is the latest initiative by Hollinger Telegraph New Media Limited that will see readers pay for online services. It already charges for fantasy sports games and crosswords.
Hugo Drayton, managing director of HTNM, said: “This is an interesting development as it will enable HTNM to look at new commercial digital projects.
“Our research has revealed that a significant proportion of our current overseas users are interested in purchasing a digital edition of the newspaper.”
The digital edition has been launched in partnership with Olive Software, which develops technology for electronic publishing, using its ActivePaper Daily technology.
Executive vice president Shaun Dail said: “We believe our ActivePaper Daily solution is an ideal way to bridge the gap between free and charged-for content online.”
