The Daily Telegraph has appointed The Sunday Times’ Claire Newell as its investigations editor in a shakeup of its politics and investigations teams.
Newell will work alongside Holly Watt, who has been promoted to Whitehall editor, and Heidi Blake, who has been appointed investigations reporter.
On the politics desk Robert Winnett has been promoted to political editor, replacing Andrew Porter who moves to the newly-created post of public policy editor for The Daily Telegraph.
James Kirkup has been promoted to deputy political editor, while former Whitehall editor Christopher Hope has been promoted to senior political correspondent.
Other changes include Tim Ross, the former social and religious affairs editor, joining the Parliamentary lobby as political correspondent and Rowena Mason also joining the politial team from the business desk, where she covered the energy sector.
