Telegraph launches online video news

By Press Gazette

The Daily Telegraph has launched a ‘news on demand’video service which dramatically ramps up its online video content.

Telegraph TV News Now was soft-launched on Tuesday. A minimum of nine news clips are added to it a day with new stories going up at 7am, around midday and 5pm.

A minimum of nine items are added a day.

The video news reports are provided by ITN and also include comment and analysis provided by Telegraph journalists.

The service uses Flash technology and a media player called Brightcore which has the benefit of a quick-loading time. The reports are broken down into short easily searchable segments.

The Guardian also ‘soft-launched’a new video news service on Tuesday. A new front page on Guardian Unlimited was created showcasing their video content at guardian.co.uk/video.
