Take a Break has teamed up with Barnardo’s children’s charity to launch National Wedding Dress Day.
The
magazine hopes to turn the idea into an annual national fundraiser –
where participants get people to sponsor them by the hour for wearing
their wedding dress “at work, in the pub, in the supermarket, out with
a bunch of friends, wherever they choose”.
The idea was sparked
by a story in the magazine about a group of women who organised a
Wedding Dress Party and raised £8,100 for charity. Barnardo’s is the
lead charity for the Take a Break fundraiser but people can nominate
any good cause.
The bestselling Bauer title has stepped up its
profile of late as the battle for real life readers continued this
year. In January it announced plans to organise 54 candidates to stand
in local elections under the banner of Mums’ Army – effectively
creating a political party staffed by mothers.
National Wedding
Dress Day will take place on 25 August, details, including a sign up
form are in this week’s Take a Break or at www.takeabreakmagazine.co.uk.
