I am a well established and pretty eclectic freelance journalist and author. As Education and Training Editor (freelance) at The Stage and regular contributor to other performing arts publications I now specialise a lot – but not exclusively – in education and performing arts. For The Stage I write two online columns a week, dozens of book and theatre reviews, weekly training page copy and many other articles and supplements.
I also review books, covering a wide range of topics, including young adult fiction, for The Independent on Sunday and I blog on social topics and education for the Independent’s website. In the recent past I have written hundreds of opinion pieces for The Daily Telegraph, The Times, The Sunday Times and Daily Mail. I can, if required, express a view on almost anything. I have for example written, among other things, about growing amaryllis, dentists, woodworkers, earthworms, vegetarian food, Egypt and Charles I…
I have over 30 books to my name – including English text books and how-to books for teachers stemming from my background as a secondary English teacher. My latest is So You Want to Work in Theatre? published by Nick Hern Books (2013.)
