Student awards attracts record number of entries

By Press Gazette

This year’s Press Gazette Student Journalism Awards has attracted more than double the amount of entries to last year’s inaugural event.

More than 200 entries are now being sifted through by judges to draw up shortlists for the nine categories that will be published in Press Gazette next week.

The panel of judges comprises: Sara Cremer, editor of New Woman; Tom Loxley, editor-in-chief of Maxim; Colin Webster, Press Association production editor; Jeremy Selwyn, Evening Standard photographer; Paul Thomas, editor of the Slough Express Series; Janine Gibson, editor of G3; David Seymour, Daily Mirror group political editor; Dominic Mohan, assistant editor, The Sun; Alex Gerlis, assistant managing editor of BBC Television News; Karl Schneider, editorial director of Reed Business Information.

The winners will be announced at a lunchtime event at The Brewery in London’s Chiswick Street on Wednesday, 26 June.
