State-run Chinese newspaper has circulation of 30,000 in the UK

State-owned Chinese English language newspaper the China Daily has posted its first European ABC circulation figure.

The ABC certificate reveals total European circulation of 86,752 of which 32,730 copies are in the UK and Ireland. The title is predominately free, with 562 newstrade sales in the UK and 147 subscribers.

Founded in 1981, the title claims a circulation of 800,000 worldwide.


Editor Songxin Xie said: "We see our newspaper playing a leading part in creating a greater understanding between Europe and China to encourage increased mutual business investment and exchange. This is particularly significant as China continues to make positive moves towards greater globalisation.”
