Stalker hired to help launch Manchester talk station

By Press Gazette

John Stalker, the former deputy chief constable of Greater Manchester Police and centre of the Stalker affair, has been hired by The Wireless Group to head its bid to launch a new speech station in Manchester to be called allTalk FM.

The FM licence was advertised last week by communications regulator Of comand will cover an area of around 1.3 million adults.

Stalker has cultivated a new career as an author, businessman and media figure since leaving the police in the late 1980s.

The Wireless Group’s business development director Calum Macaulay said: “We are delighted to have John Stalker on board. He has an unrivalled knowledge of the area and shares our passion for creating compelling speech-based radio.”

The Wireless Group owns national speech station talkSport as well as 16 local and regional stations.
