The Sportsman has exceeded its first day target sales figure of 50,000 by at least 15,000 copies.
A statement from the Sportsmen said the number of copies sold will be above 65,000. The figure accounts for full price sales only and does not include sample copies.
The exact number will be known next week when figures will be confirmed. The title, made available at 32,000 of the 50,000 plus news outlets in the UK and Ireland, needed to sell 42,000 to break even.
The Sportsman is a seven-day a week paper staffed by 80 journalists. It sells for £1, competing with the Racing Post, currently selling 76,000 copies, which sells for £1.40.
