Sky News is claiming a British television first – a live broadcast from inside a prison that will see Kay Burley with unprecedented live access to prisoners and staff.
Burley will be anchoring the day’s coverage on Thursday 7 June from category B prison HMP Nottingham, as part of Sky News’ week long special report on crime in the UK across television, online and radio.
The week will include live reports, special investigations and live debates, as well as interviews with key figures in the UK criminal justice system.
Other features include Sky News’ correspondent Martin Brunt offering behind the scenes access at a local police station, and a visit to Middlesbrough – home to Britain’s first ‘talking’ CCTV cameras.
Head of Sky News John Ryley said: “Crime affects most of us, be it petty crime like graffiti and vandalism to serious and organised crime.
“This week of special reports will shine a spotlight on Britain’s criminal justice system and will give our viewers the information they need to help empower themselves.”
