Shortlists for 2013 PPA awards revealed

By Jennifer Awford

The shortlist for the 2013 PPA Awards has been unveiled.

Popular entertainment and listings magazine Time Out has been nominated for six PPA Awards including consumer magazine of the year, consumer media brand and international consumer media brand.

Time Out’s iPad app has been named as a contender for digital innovation of the year and Greg Miall has been nominated as a possible publisher/manager of the year with Michael Hodges placed to compete for consumer writer of the year.

Progressive Customer Publishing (PCP) and its flagship monthly business title Economia have been nominated for four PPA Awards.

Economia’s Richard Cree and Ewan Buck have been shortlisted for editor of the year and designer of the year respectively in the business media section.  The magazine itself has been nominated for customer magazine of the year and PCP has been nominated for publishing innovator of the year.

Cree said: “I am delighted for the entire team. Being shortlisted for these awards is fair recognition of the hard work, skill and dedication of the Economia team.”

Science and technology publication WIRED has been shortlisted for four PPA awards including specialist consumer magazine and consumer media brand.

The awards have also recognised the talents of David Rowan and Andrew Diprose as they have been nominated for consumer editor and designer of the year respectively for their work with the Condé Nast title.

Mollie Makes, a lifestyle and craft magazine has also been shortlisted for consumer magazine of the year.  The Future Publishing title received three nominations in total, including consumer media brand of the year and editor of the year (Jane Toft).

The winners will be announced during a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel on 19 June.

The full list of nominations is included below and can be found on the PPA website:
