Journalists at Express Newspapers have issued management with an ultimatum to improve their 3.3 per cent pay offer.
NUJ chapel meetings were held today (Thursday) at the Express Newspapers offices in London, Glasgow and Broughton, near Preston.
They were discussing a ballot which found 63.5
per cent of union members in favour of action up to and including a
strike and 81.5 per cent in favour of action up to and excluding a
strike.

NUJ members number some 300 out of about 400 journalists on the Daily and Sunday Express.
They passed the following resolution: “In the
light of the result of the ballot for industrial action the chapel has
invited management to come forward with a realistic pay and conditions
offer. Should a suitable offer not be forthcoming by Wednesday, next
week, the chapel empowers the chapel committee to give management seven
days notice of industrial action.”
