Sky News has recruited the main anchor for its Irish rolling news service, due to launch in the spring.
Gráinne Seoige, a presenter on Ireland’s TV3 nightly news bulletins at 5.30pm, 6.30pm and on News Tonight, will present the nightly bulletins on Sky News Ireland from a new studio in Dublin.
With more than eight years’ experience as a broadcast news anchor, she also produces and writes TV3 News updates, having joined TV3 at launch in 1998.
Prior to TV3 News, Seoige anchored the nightly news bulletin on Gaeliclanguage channel TeilifÃs na Gaeilge’s – now known as TG4 – from launch in 1996 to 1998. She was also the presenter on Ireland’s only breakfast programme, Ireland AM, and weekly current affairs programme 20/20.
Nick Pollard, head of Sky News, said Seoige’s “authority and experience presenting nightly news bulletins made her the perfect choice to launch Sky News’ new Irish service”.
