Former British ambassador to the US Sir Christopher Meyer has been
appointed to serve a second three-year term as chairman of the Press
Complaints Commission.
He was appointed by the Press Standards
Board of Finance, which funds the PCC by raising a levy from newspaper
and periodical publishers. The membership consists of newspaper owners,
senior managers and editors.
PressBoF chairman Philip Graf said:
“Sir Christopher, supported by his team at Salisbury Square, has proved
an inspired appointment since taking up the chairmanship of the PCC in
spring 2003, having done sterling work to promote the benefits of
self-regulation for readers, newspapers and magazines.”
