Scotsman to put every issue online

By Press Gazette

The Scotsman has made UK newspaper history with the launch of its online digital archive.

The new online service – archive.scotsman.com – is the first time a UK publisher has offered public access to its entire archive in a searchable format.

Every page of each issue of the paper, from the first edition of 25 January 1817 to 1900, has been transferred to microfilm and then digitally recorded. This electronic archive will shortly be extended to 1950, and eventually to the present day.
