Saucy women's glossy Scarlet has been "inspired" by The Guardian's wallchart series to produce its own educational giveaway — a free infograph of the different types of vibrator.
The downloadable chart was made available to readers of The Scarlet Letter, the magazine's weekly email, which has 60,000 subscribers, on 17 October.
Publisher Gavin Griffiths, former owner of The Erotic Review, said: "When the latest Guardian chart came out — which covered apples — we were inspired to produce our own, but with a particularly Scarlet slant.
"There's such a bewildering array of sex toys available these days that we felt we'd be doing readers a real favour by guiding them through the main varieties in an easily downloadable, handy pin-up chart."
The monthly magazine, which celebrates its second birthday this October, claims to have current sales of about 40,000.
Editor Sarah Hedley, who has been nominated for a BSME new editor of the year award, confirmed that Scarlet will be stocked in Somerfield stores from this week.
"We're already in Tesco, WHSmith and Superdrug, and we're working on Sainsbury's, which is the only store not to have succumbed to our charms so far.
"Getting Scarlet on the middle shelf of every newsstand in the country isn't just good for the magazine, it's good for women who've long been denied the kind of titillation available to men in the lads' mags."
Scarlet's latest issue, guest edited by burlesque star Dita Von Teese, is out on 23 November.
