The editor of recently relaunched Retail Newsagent is to leave the title in June to take the helm at Travel Weekly.
Sarah Longbottom, editor of Newtrade Publishing's weekly B2B title for newsagents, is to be the new editor of Reed Business Information's travel title.
She spent seven years at the Middle East and North Africa edition of Travel Trade Gazette – Travel Weekly's rival.
Longbottom had been editor of Retail Newsagent for the past 18 months, a period that concluded with a redesign in March.
She told Press Gazette that her editorship was driven by a desire to make it "a reader-based title" with more news and a larger letters section.
"We came out with a new look, more news and more news analysis and comments on the industry – we put magazines at the heart of the title," she said.
"I spent a lot of time when I joined the company talking to readers. As a result of that we realised they wanted more on these issues, such as looking at successful retailers and how they got their start.
"Before I came to the title there was not as much in-depth content and we've added a regular comment piece to the issue."
Travel Weekly relaunched in October last year under previous editor Richard Siddle, who is now editor of Harpers, the UK wine and spirit weekly published by Nexus Business Media.
On the move to RBI, Longbottom said: "I'm looking forward to the move, to handling a bigger team. Again, it's about readers and what they want and making sure we deliver."
