The European School of Oncology is offering 10,000 euros (£6,760) to the winner of its annual Best Cancer Reporter award.
The ESO is looking for articles that "continue the fight for honest and accurate information" about the disease.
Two second prizes of 5,000 euros (£3,380) are also up for grabs and entries from newspapers, trade magazines and online publications are all accepted. The deadline is the end of this month.
Sarah Boseley won last year's award. This year she is part of the judging panel, alongside several cancer experts.
Catherine Kalamis of the Guernsey Press and Star and Simon Crompton of The Times were runners-up last year.
