Revamp for XGamer

By Press Gazette

By Ruth Addicott

Games magazine XGamer has been revamped and renamed Xbox Gamer in a bid to boost sales in its second year.

Future Publishing has backed the revamp with £50,000 promotion and the magazine will relaunch with a print run of 80,000 and cover price of £3.49.

Aimed at the 600,000 Xbox users currently in the UK, it recorded an ABC of 33,484 last summer.

Xbox Gamer editor Simon Clays said: “The original XGamer was the market-leading non-official magazine during Xbox’s first year. As the market has evolved into its second year, Xbox Gamer is building on that success by delivering compelling and challenging content both in the magazine and on the covermounted CD.” Clays was previously editor of gadget magazine Stuff and the Official Nintendo Magazine.

XGamer originally launched with a print run of 100,000 and a cover price of £2.99 – half that of the Official X Box Magazine.
