Milton Keynes journalist Lee Scriven hijacked his city’s iconic concrete cows as part of a bid to boost the flagging fortunes of its football team.
The MK Dons were relegated last season and have been struggling so far in Division One. So Scriven, a reporter with free weekly MK News, persuaded Milton Keynes Parks Trust to let him borrow five of the Friesians and place them next to the ground. A local contractor agreed to move the cows, which weigh a ton each, for free.
Scriven said: “They are MK’s ultimate icons that many believed helped make the city the success it is today.”
The cows failed to work their magic at their first outing – the Dons were beaten 4-1 by Cardiff.
