Ben Proctor, The People's head of news, has been promoted to deputy editor at the Trinity Mirror title.
Mark Thomas, the editor of The People, said: "Ben has been an invaluable member of the team since he joined us and thoroughly deserves this promotion. He will continue to head up the news department as part of his new role."
Proctor joined the Trinity Mirror title two years ago from the News of the World as deputy news editor. He was promoted to news editor before becoming head of news last month.
He replaces Alan Edwards whose position has not been filled since he left last year amid a round of editorial redundancies at Trinity Mirror.
It is the second piece of good news in recent weeks for Proctor who recently became a father with his partner, Trinity Mirror press officer Sarah Vaughan-Brown.
