I was surprised to see that the name of my newspaper was kept secret
in the report of our appeal to name the woman who deliberately infected
her lover with HIV (Press Gazette, 29 July).
We certainly did not
keep it secret in the Argus. We splashed on the ruling, ran a strong
editorial opposing it and did a double-page follow-up.
We have become accustomed to the Family Court suppressing the names of defendants appearing in Crown Courts.
seems that if you are of previous good character, your children can
suffer shame if you are in court, but if you are a problem family, your
children are protected by the courts.
