Press Gazette wins runner-up prize at British Media Awards for Save Our Sources campaign

By Press Gazette

Press Gazette won the runner-up prize in the campaign of the year category at last night’s British Media Awards for Save Our Sources.

The campaign was set up in September last year after it emerged that the Metropolitan Police had secretly accessed the phone records of The Sun to find the sources of its Plebgate story.

The petition called for the Interception of Communications Commissioner to require a judge to approve police access to journalistic phone records.

Save Our Sources was also named as a finalist in Private Eye and The Guardian’s Paul Foot Award.

In last night’s British Media Awards, Press Gazette was named as runner-up to The Guardian for its End Female Genital Mutilation campaign.
