PPA Awards 2012: The full list of winners

By James Read

Sport magazine scooped the inaugural front cover of the year award at last night’s Professional Publishers Association awards.

The award was voted for through an online poll and attracted tens of thousands of public votes, according to the PPA.

The closely-fought vote was eventually won by UTV Media’s Sport magazine for their cover featuring ex-England football icon Paul Gascoigne, followed by Shortlist Media’s Stylist magazine in second and IPC Media’s Wallpaper.

Consumer magazine of the year went to The Week, and editor of the year (consumer) was won by the Stylist’s Lisa Smosarski. Stylist also won consumer media brand of the year.

Barry McIlheney, CEO of the PPA, said: ‘Every year the PPA Awards set the bar as the showcase for excellence in UK publishing, and this year’s event has been no exception.

‘Front Cover of the Year has been a fantastic addition to the awards, demonstrating just how powerfully a well-crafted magazine cover can resonate with readers.

‘At the same time, the award-winning innovations on show in the digital categories underline that magazine brands, and the professional content they produce, have a very exciting future across a whole variety of platforms.”
