A British photographer wounded by riot police in Geneva was due to meet Swiss Ambassador Bruno Spinner this week.
The ambassador agreed to meet Guy Smallman, accompanied by NUJ general secretary Jeremy Dear.
Smallman was working for UK-based news agency Images sans Frontiéres covering protests aimed at a meeting of G8 nations when he was hit in the leg by a police concussion grenade.
He is currently recovering from a leg wound at home in London.
Smallman said: “I am going to go there with a list of questions – I want to know what the police guidelines are for using concussion grenades and ask various other questions about the policing of the press.
“A lot of stuff has been coming up that I have been collecting over the past couple of days – I’ve heard other reports of photographers being harassed and having their equipment taken away.”
Smallman has engaged lawyers and plans to sue the Swiss for loss of earnings and other damages.
