Dutch photographer Hugh Van Es, who covered the Vietnam War and recorded the most famous image of the fall of Saigon in 1975, died in Hong Kong at 67.
His wife Annie said he died after suffering a brain haemorrhage last week.
Van Es’s picture of a group of people scaling a ladder to a CIA helicopter on a rooftop the day before Saigon fell became a stunning metaphor for the desperate US withdrawal and its overall policy failure in Vietnam.
