Peter Orme
Freelance photographer Peter Orme died, aged 49, at Harefield Hospital on 20 June after a long illness. He leaves a wife, Heidi, and seven-year-old son, Nicholas.
Peter was a well-known and respected national newspaper photographer. He not only excelled at covering hard news stories, but was also capable of presenting artistic and imaginative photographs.
Fellow photographers knew they would have a happy day when Peter was on the same assignment. He was always ready to share a joke and a chat.
His enthusiasm for photography never waned from the moment he sold all of his furniture in the Eighties to buy his first camera, until a stroke and then a lung transplant operation made it extremely difficult for him to hold a camera.
Because of ill health, he never travelled or received the recognition he deserved, but no one ever heard a word of complaint from him.
His funeral at Crownhill Crematorium, Milton Keynes, was attended by his family and many photographers and colleagues, wishing to show their respect.
Peter was a wonderful photographer, husband, dad and friend who will be sadly missed.
Friends have expressed a wish to help his widow and son. Anyone wishing to do so should contact Phil Ide on 0771751975 or contribute directly to "friends of Peter Orme", account number 0016031 and sort code 309836 (Sutton).
