The NoW splashed on ‘affair’
The PCC has urged editors not to let journalists harass the woman named this week as Home Secretary David Blunkett’s lover.
The PCC was contacted on Tuesday by lawyers acting for the woman, who has been named in several newspapers as Spectator magazine publisher Kimberly Fortier.
Under clause four of the press Code of Practice, journalists must not engage in persistent pursuit and must stop questioning someone once they have been asked to do so. According to the PCC, it is not unusual for it to be contacted in this way and journalists normally desist once they have been made aware of a complaint.
