The prospect of a heart transplant hasn’t stopped TalkSport breakfast presenter Mike Parry from continuing to file his weekly 1,200-word column for Football First.
The former Daily Express news editor has been off air for more than a month and is currently confined to a hospital bed.
Football First editorial director Chris Mann said: “He’s a 24-hour-aday work man and being in bed like that is very frustrating for him. It seems to be good for him to get this outlet. I said to him would he like to get a break but he’s absolutely bouncing with mental energy. Throughout all this he has been amazing and been fantastically courageous.”
Parry has used his column in recent weeks to call for the resignation of England football captain David Beckham. He also given both barrels to the England coach, SvenGoran Eriksson, predicting his days in the job are numbered. Football First used his column as the front page lead with the headline “not if but Sven”.
