Asha Oberoi has been appointed by the Press Association to the newly created role of head of multimedia editorial.
Oberoi will work closely with the editorial and commercial teams to develop multimedia products and liaise with customers to deliver workable solutions. She will report to Tony Watson, PA’s editorial director.
Watson said: “We are delighted that Asha will be joining the Press Association and bringing such a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. Her appointment is a key step in the company’s fast-evolving multimedia strategy.”
Oberoi was previously at RealNetworks, where she was responsible for developing consumer broadband video services within the UK and Europe.
Prior to RealNetworks, she spent three years at BBC News Interactive, where she was the senior producer of interactive television and broadband development. At the BBC, she helped pioneer and launch award-winning content services on broadband to PC, digital satellite and TV platforms. She was also engaged in research and development efforts for other emerging platforms and technologies such as personal video recorders.
Oberoi said: “This is an exciting time to be joining the Press Association as it expands further into new media. News in the multimedia age is about using the appropriate assets available to best cover the stories making the headlines. I believe the Press Association is uniquely placed to offer this service to its customers.”
