The Press Association has made two appointments in the US, covering
celebrity and entertainment. Victoria Ward will report from New York
and Mark Sage, news correspondent, will remain in America as PA
Entertainment’s New York correspondent.
Ward, 26, started her
career as a reporter in 2002 on PA’s training scheme. After a year
based in London she was seconded to Ireland as Dublin correspondent and
then political correspondent, covering the peace process and elections
to the Northern Ireland Assembly.
Prior to joining PA she gained experience on most UK national newspapers, as well as the China Daily in Beijing.
Sage, 25, joined PA in 2000 after a spell in regional newspapers and after a year, became Dublin correspondent.
The
following year he returned to Britain as a senior reporter and was
appointed as New York correspondent in 2003 where he covered last
year’s presidential elections.
PA’s editor Jonathan Grun said:
“US news is a vital component of the agency’s newswire service. Over
the past year Mark has worked tirelessly to provide the highest level
of fast, fair and accurate information on all the stories that are
important to the UK and I know Victoria will ensure this continues.”
Ward and Sage took up their positions on 17 January.
