Online video news launch

By Press Gazette

Two of the founders of TVNewsweb, the online video news service that crashed last month, have launched a new venture to supply footage to the broadcast industry.

Ken Heron and Pete Henderson have secured private backing for TVZ.TV, which will facilitate buying and selling of video news. They also hope to build on the success of TVNewsweb, which was able to transmit broadcast-quality video via the internet from Nepal after the murder of the Royal Family.

TVNewsweb folded at the beginning of July when it was left stranded by investors and forced to lay off all of its 35 staff.

Henderson said TVZ.TV would "focus on the two most successful areas" of TVNewsweb. "I’ve always believed in the concept and think we can build on the lessons learnt from TVNewsweb," he added.
